Let’s See Your True Colors

Volunteer Opportunities for Every Personality Type

There are tons of different types of personality types available online, including Myers Briggs, Enneagram, Hexaco, and DiSC, to name a few. During one of our staff programming planning days, we took the True Colors personality test and it was an insightful look into how we each functioned separately and together. This test organizes people as belonging to specific color or personality type, and can help better understand yourself and your relationships at home, school or work.

The four personality types in True Colors include:

  • Gold: dependable, organized and caring
  • Orange: fun, energetic, and charismatic
  • Blue: calm, optimistic and kind
  • Green: intelligent, creative, and independent

Just by reading that list, you may already be able to tell which color reflects your personality best. However, while we may all have a dominant color, everyone has a bit of each type of personality in them. You can click this link to take a quick, free test online to see which color you are and learn more about the characteristics for each personality type.

Here at Atascocita United Methodist Church we have people of all types, and special opportunities for everyone to get involved. If you are looking to get more involved but aren’t sure where to start, use your personality type to help find a place for you to volunteer at Atascocita UMC!

GOLD

People with a dominant Gold personality are detail-oriented, responsible and reliable, and thus work best in positions that are straightforward and have highly defined duties. These also tend to be the people who enjoy working “behind the scenes.”

The media and livestream team is a great place for those who care about the little details. This team is in charge of putting together the media for our weekly services and, of course, making the service available to our online worshippers.

Several times a year, AUMC partners with Atascocita Lutheran Church to host Community Food Fairs that provide fresh groceries to those in need in the Atascocita area. Dependable and organized volunteers can help in one (or more) of three ways: unloading the food truck, packing groceries, and delivering the groceries to the cars in the drive-thru line.

Help families in need by delivering groceries on a Saturday for Saturday’s Child. This ministry is in need of punctual and reliable people to assist as drivers.

These duties are straightforward and the Gold personality will enjoy knowing how much their work matters!

ORANGE

While events have been less happenstance in the past year, our Family Ministries always need volunteers, and those with an Orange personality type are the perfect for the job! Naturally extroverted, getting involved with our energetic and curious children will be an easy task.

Consider becoming a Sunday School teacher where you are guaranteed to enjoy variety and excitement each week.

Channel your energy and have fun by learning and performing new music each week as a part of one of our Music Ministries groups – Chancel Choir, handbells, or our ConneXion Worship Band.

Unlock your spontaneity by serving in these fun ways!

GREEN

Green types are drawn to constant challenge, and are often the visionaries of a group.

Green types will work well with our youth, whose curiosities are just as abundant. Through serving as a volunteer or mentor during Back to Basics or Midweek Small Groups, Green types can gain great insight and knowledge from the new generations.

Family Promise offers an assortment of ways to help out. You can help with set up/clean up, greeting, providing groceries, making dinner, visiting with the families in the evening, or spending the night. Make it a fun challenge to try out a new volunteer role each day or week that the families visit!

Innovate your life by getting involved with these groups!

BLUE

Blue types are the definition of a helper. Compassionate, flexible and encouraging, these people are perfect for interacting with and supporting our congregation and community in roles such as a greeter or usher. As an office volunteer, their calm and kind demeanor will help guests and staff feel well-supported.

Our outreach ministry, Healing Hearts, is a perfect opportunity to engage with our community through prayer, visitations, or friendly phone calls to those in need.

Show your care to our congregation by participating in our Greeting Card Ministry, which meets monthly to write cards to our homebound members, sick members, or even those who just need a little bit of prayer.

Use your uniqueness and authenticity to transform others’ lives!

FOR ALL COLOR TYPES

People of any personality type can participate in our monthly Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM) drive since it is as simple as a trip to the grocery store. From spaghetti noodles to school supplies to socks, each month this ministry collects different items that are in need by our community.

You don’t have to take these recommendations as a prescription, but if you’re looking for a way to jump in at AUMC, this is a great place to start! If any of these volunteer opportunities sound interesting to you, visit their links to learn more information and get into contact with the ministry leader.

If your schedule is tight or you feel uncomfortable gathering in groups, you can always support any of these missions and ministries financially by giving to a specific group. Simply visit our website to give online and select “Other” as your fund and write the name of the ministry/mission you wish to give to.

So, let’s see your True Colors! Get involved as a volunteer at Atascocita UMC this year and watch your life become even more colorful.
